The Urnfields are Patrick Lenover and Maia Kirby, an independent electronic songwriting duo from Brantford, Ontario.
Married since 2008, Lenover and Kirby have been writing and recording music together in various groups for over 20 years.
The Urnfields began in 2019 after they decided to put their guitars down (momentarily) and explore the realm of electronic music as a medium to write sophisticated pop songs relevant to the here and now of their adult lives.
Inspired by Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Kate Bush, Pulp, and retro video games, Lenover is the sonic architect behind The Urnfields' synth-driven soundscapes.
Kirby’s unique lyrical storytelling and evocative vocals bring both darkness and light to The Urnfields’ music, digging deep to explore the depths of grief and loss as well as the tender, murky waters of modern love.
After successfully releasing a number of genre-defying singles that explore their various electronic influences, The Urnfields are currently working on their first full-length album.
